Low cholesterol diet plan....How important is it?
One of the major goals of a low cholesterol diet plan is to limit fat intake. Fat is an important source of energy for our bodies. However, too much fat, can be dangerous because it raises cholesterol levels. It can also cause blockage in your circulatory system.
Cutting back on sodium is also important to the diet plan. Other foods to limit include sugars and alcohol as they add calories with very little nutrients. As for meats, red meat should typically be avoided as they tend to be high in fat. Chicken, turkey and fish are great substitutes for red meat as they are much leaner.
Foods you should add to your diet include complex carbohydrates and fiber. As far as fiber is concerned, 20 to 30 grams each day is recommended.
A low cholesterol diet plan may not always be the best tasting, but giving up those french fries now can add valuable years to your life.
